Muskoka has a wonderful shopping scene, with a variety of pop-up marketplaces, gift shops, vintage stores, and trendy home and cottage decor stores. This driving tour takes you around Lake Muskoka, stopping in at great stores along the way. Each of these stores has a #CRANROUTE feature for you to try, making your shopping adventure as delicious as it is fun!
Directions and Tour Highlights:
Start at the Muskoka Wharf to stroll the boardwalk with a hot drink from The Shipyards Wheelhouse Coffee lounge and Starbucks. While you’re there, browse over 15 different pop-up vendors. You will definitely find something you can’t live without (besides their amazing Cranberry White Chocolate Butter Tarts).
From the Wharf, walk or drive up Bay street to the main street of Gravenhurst to check out the Gypsy Market Mews and Relish Cafe. The shop is filled with treasured gems and the lattes, soups, sandwiches and baked goods from Relish will tantalize your taste buds. There Turkey/brie sandwich with cranberry mustard and arugula is a delicious lunch sammy!
Get back in the car and head on Hwy 169 towards Bala. Arrive at Cottage Cravings Cafe & Gift Shop and browse their store filled with home decor, comfy clothing, and cooking supplies. Sit down and enjoy a warm home-cooked meal and choose from one of their 30 hot chocolate flavours. Don’t leave until you have tried their famous oatmeal cranberry and white chocolate chip cookies.
Take Hwy 169 towards Hwy 118 out of town. If you are starting to get a hunger on, go for a delightful dinner at the Sherwood Inn Vintages dining room. They have a number of mouth-watering cranberry-inspired dishes to choose from, including their cranberry panko crusted salmon filet. If you are not yet hungry, save room for dinner in Bracebridge.
Continue on Hwy 169 to Hwy 118 West, around Lake Muskoka and on route to Port Carling. Stop off at The Muskoka Emporium to browse and buy a new outfit from their chic pop-up store. If you pass over the bridge, you’ve gone too far.
The Muskokery, inside of the Muskoka Emporium, has some delicious Raspberry Cranberry Lucky Duck Fudge for you to take home.
Less than a ten minute drive from Port Carling, you will come across Huckleberry Rock lookout trail. Take in the very best of what Muskoka has to offer on this easy going (but uphill) hike.
Continue east to Rich Hill Candles in Bracebridge. This candle factory and gift shop is a great shopping destination! Be sure to pick up a cranberry candle to enjoy the wonderful scents of the cranberry harvest all year long.
After a day of touring, go for dinner at Muskoka’s autentico Italian restaurant, Rende Italian Eatery. Try one of their famous pasta dishes, or try one of their #CRANROUTE features including their Cranberry Lasagna - fresh lasagna with Cranberry Italian Sausage in a cranberry cream sauce. It is absolutely delicious!
